Belen Flores

Belen comes from a large Mexican family from the Northern Bay Area of California. She is the youngest of six siblings whose upbringing and niche academic journey led to her passion for upending injustices. As a Justice & Law and Mathematics double major, Belen graduated from American University in May 2017. Shortly after graduation, this dedicated community organizer participated in fellowships with the Los Angeles Superior Court and in the New York City government sector, where she learned the states and local governments’ strengths and limitations in advancing and protecting the rights of communities of color. To ground herself in community organizing, she stepped away from her government work to participate in CoCo’s Organizing Fellowship, after which she joined as a staff member.

Fun Fact: Belen enjoys long-distance runs and weight training.
