David Curtiss

Born and raised in South LA, David has cultivated a lifelong commitment to uplifting the priorities of Black and Brown people through his values, education, and practice. In 2018, he graduated from American University with a B.A. in Sociology and Justice & Law, where he studied and conducted research on the various intersections between race, education, and criminalization in both the U.S. and globally.

This experience fueled his passion to support community-driven ways to carry out systems change that benefits and invests in communities of color. As a proud son of black small business owners, David is pursuing a Masters in Social Entrepreneurship at the University of Southern California to study how the enterprise sector can accelerate social change and provide disinvested communities new pathways to access and resources. In his spare time, he oversees The Building Hope Project, a student sponsorship organization he began that sends primary students to school in Uganda. David is excited to be a part of the dynamic Development Department at Community Coalition and serve his community.

Fun Fact: David was set to sing with the late Michael Jackson just four days after his demise. He’s just now getting over it.
