Fermin Vasquez

“When I was 11 years old I crossed three borders from El Salvador without the right papers in hopes of a better life. Despite my immigration status, my mother raised me in this country with the right values. It’s the values of fairness, opportunity for all, and giving back that drive my commitment to social change.”

Fermin began his social justice journey at Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles’ (CHIRLA) youth program, Wise Up. Before joining Community Coalition in 2013, Fermin served as the Statewide Communications Coordinator for Californians for Justice. Fermin harnesses the power of technology, social media, and story telling to win campaigns that change people’s lives. He holds a B.A. in Political Science from California State University of Los Angeles.
