Shannon Murphy Castellani

For the past 15 years, Shannon has been managing large-scale public affairs efforts that successfully position companies, projects, elected leaders and influence public policy-making as Principal at M Strategic Communications.

Prior to co-founding M Strategic Communications, Shannon worked as Deputy Controller for the City of Los Angeles. Additionally, Shannon served as Deputy Chief of Staff to California Assembly Speakers John A. Pérez and Karen Bass as well as Communications Director for Los Angeles Mayor Jim Hahn. Shannon has served as a senior advisor specializing in media relations, message development, campaign strategy, and crisis communications. She managed time-sensitive media responses for the City of Los Angeles and initiated rapid responses efforts regarding major incidents.

Additionally, Shannon served as the Communications Director for LAUSD, the nation’s second largest school district and worked alongside some of the most dynamic foundations in the world, including the Gates and Broad Foundations. Shannon sits on the Board of Directors for LAFD and Community Coalition.

She has a proven track record of managing advocacy efforts and providing executive-level public relations and crisis communications counsel. Shannon currently lives in Manhattan Beach with her husband Marc and her two children.
