Many of our founding members are Westmont/West Athens residents. Westmont is unique because it is an unincorporated area of the City of Los Angeles, which is the reason many residents feel they don’t get their fair share of resources from local government. Given the local community conditions in 2011 we launched our organizing efforts to ensure residents have a voice in demanding the type of investments they want to see in their neighborhood. Four years later, we have a strong base of neighborhood leaders organizing around public safety issues, law enforcement and community relations, promoting access to parks and tackling health disparities.
