Continuing its effort to build electoral power in South L.A., Community Coalition recently led an intensive “get out the vote” campaign for the June 5 primary election. Seventy Coalition members, volunteers and staffers knocked on 3,000 doors and spoke with 1,000 residents over several days to encourage people to vote. This fall the Coalition hopes to mobilize thousands of South L.A. voters for the November general election when crucial issues, such as increasing taxes on millionaires to raise money for education, will be on the ballot.
