The Culture Cures 2023: South LA is STILL Homewill showcase the complex realities that the housing crisis has had on Black and Brown families in South Los Angeles. By producing four different activations and curatorial experiences, the goal is to provide multiple opportunities for our members and community residents at large to learn about the complexities of the issues while working towards producing solutions that can support our organizing campaign efforts. The series will run for three weeks, from May 4th- May 20th.
South LA is Not For Sale Exhibit Location Community Coalition 8101 S. Vermont Ave. Los Angeles 90044
The festival is the culminating celebration of the Culture Cures programming, featuring a diverse lineup of South LA artists, storytellers, musicians, and community activists.
The South LA is Not For Sale exhibit curated by Community Coalition explores the historical and contemporary complexities of the housing and homelessness crisis. The exhibit will feature 4 installations that illustrate the various ways in which Black and Brown communities, families and students have been disproportionately affected by housing and homelessness. We pay special attention to uplift the stories of South LA residents who have not only suffered from the systemic inequalities but who have also empowered themselves to create material change for themselves and their community.
