Gilbert is a native of South Central Los Angeles and works as a Lead Justice Organizer at Community Coalition. He was introduced to Community Coalition in 2009, which marked the last year he was incarcerated. Finding it very hard to gain sustainable, fulfilling employment and having to work several odd jobs, Gilbert’s prayers were answered when he was presented the opportunity to work as a public servant and community organizer with Community Coalition. Gilbert works with CoCo members who are leading campaigns that redefine public safety and shift the pendulum from criminalization and punishment towards justice and redemption. He is extremely proud of the work he has been able to accomplish at CoCo. Gilbert is married with three sons and finally has a baby girl!
