Kirsten Hoagland

Kirsten Hoagland is a graduate of Regis University in Denver, Colorado, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Since middle school, Kirsten has been fascinated with mental health and yearned for an environment that spoke more openly and compassionately about mental health issues. This fascination led to her majoring in Psychology which introduced her to the concept of intersectionality and how much more complex the discussion around mental health is in disadvantaged communities.

She explored intersectionality further during a year-long internship with the Healthcare Interest Program at Denver Health Public Hospital, geared towards first-generation college students and students of color. Kirsten had the privilege of shadowing three doctors – a rheumatologist, OB/GYN, and neurosurgeon. Besides the invaluable experience of observing C-sections, births, and spinal cord surgery, the overarching takeaway from the internship centered on the importance of representation and equitability and how these concepts span beyond medicine.

Kirsten is delighted to join the team at CoCo and support the organization’s work in her role as the HR Coordinator.

Fun Fact: According to the measurement on the doors at Taco Bell, Kirsten is under five feet tall.
