Jacky Contreras

Jacky is originally from San Bernardino, CA where she grew up in an impoverished community and felt the negative repercussions of long-standing social and economic injustices firsthand. Jacky’s lived experience, combined with her interest in health, led her to obtain a degree in Human Biology and Society and a minor in Global Health from UCLA. Through her studies, she was able to take a holistic approach when defining health, which included an individual’s social and economic well-being and the impact it had on their quality of life. She plans to further her education and aspires to fight the conditions that foster health disparities in communities of color.
Fun Fact: Jacky’s  favorite pastime is going to the beach or hiking to watch the sunset and sunrise.
