Qiana Charles is a Government and Public Affairs Senior Project Manager for Southern California Edison (SCE). As a public affairs professional, she is responsible for communicating directly with key community stakeholders and elected officials on matters concerning energy policies and regulatory issues that impact SCE’s customers and communities. She also serves as the Vice President for the company’s African American focused Employee Resource Group (ERG), called the Networkers. The ERG was established in 1985 to promote diversity within SCE and identify career enhancement strategies for African American employees.
Prior to joining SCE, Ms. Charles served as a policy consultant to the California State Assembly Elections and Redistricting Committee, where she analyzed legislation related to the initiative process, voter registration, and electioneering. In addition, she served as a policy advisor to then California State Senator Mark Ridley-Thomas and the Legislative Black Caucus.
Ms. Charles is a member of the Los Angeles African American Women’s Public Policy Institute and Leadership California, organizations both dedicated to advancing women’s leadership skills and roles in business and public policy. She is also a very active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., with the Pasadena/Altadena Chapter.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from California State University, San Bernardino, and a master’s degree in organizational communication from Howard University in Washington, DC.
