21 Mar Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Senate Judiciary Committee Confirmation Hearings Begin

Today, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation hearings began. Black women have turned out in record numbers to represent their communities through their right to vote—literally saving the ideals of democracy in America in recent elections. Yet, in the over 200-year history of the Supreme Court, not one Black woman has ever been nominated to serve. From voting rights to maternal health, we need a Black woman Justice on the court who prioritizes Black and brown communities’ needs.

President Biden conducted a rigorous process to identify a replacement for Justice Stephen Bryer. The POTUS sought a candidate with exceptional credentials, unimpeachable character, and unwavering dedication to the rule of law and nominated Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to serve as the next Justice on the Supreme Court.
