Let’s Get This Party Started!

09 Nov Let’s Get This Party Started!

Community Coalition is celebrating our 30th Anniversary with the People, Power, Progress Party!  The Party will take place virtually on Sunday, November 15th at 2:00pm PST and I really hope you can join us!  You can attend the Party free of charge, all you have to do is RSVP here.

This year has been difficult in so many ways and all of us have been impacted.  Last year, when we began to think about how to commemorate our 30th anniversary, we came up with awesome ideas for gatherings and celebrations to bring together all of our friends, partners, members and supporters — all of the people who have been a part of our collective success since our founding in 1990.  But when COVID hit, we pivoted to addressing pressing community needs and pretty much abandoned our plans.

When we considered having this event a few months ago, we thought it could be viewed as inappropriate or insensitive to have a party in the midst of the continuing challenges of this year.  But then we realized that a celebration of all that we have achieved together was not only appropriate but necessary.  We need to have some time together to see each other’s faces, celebrate the progress we have made over the years and in the recent weeks, and let off some steam, too.

So, for the Party, we have planned what we hope will be an enjoyable afternoon of music, networking, reflecting, and fun, with that signature CoCo touch.  Here’s a bit of what we have in store for you:

  • A candid look back at 30 years of CoCo with our founder, Congressmember Karen Bass, and former President/CEO, Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson
  • Virtual photo booth where you can enter our “Quarantine Couture” (party on top, sweatpants on the bottom?) or “L.A. Pride” fashion contests (wear your championship Dodgers or Lakers gear!), with prizes!!
  • A special announcement about an exciting upcoming CoCo project

The last thing we need to get this party started is YOU. So RSVP today and we will see you on the 15th!
